Perennial student with a Master's in international development; currently working on a PhD in agricultural and resource economics at the University of California Berkeley. My research falls into a subset of development economics, impact evaluation, health, agriculture, behavior, and a handful of other things. In recent years, I've been fortunate to get the chance to work in Haiti, Malawi, Kenya, and Liberia. I dabble in photography and keep a collection of unusual houseplants (one is more compatible with travel than the other).

hey there :) i'm sure that you aren't surprised that this is the first time i'm writing. to be honest, i've been swamped with school (it's really good, though) and forgot about the fact that you were doing a blog. good grief :) so i just caught up on your month and it sounds amazing...and challenging. i can't wait to hear more about what the schools are like... but the real reason that i am writing is to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! i wanted to make sure that you had at least one happy b-day email waiting for you in the morning :) and a little tidbit that i thought was very appropriate...the atlanta ikea opens tomorrow on your b-day :) can't wait until you're back and we can go there together :) i love you and will continue writing now that i've figured out how!

May you enjoy your day! Your mom and dad stopped by our house on Sunday afternoon, on their way up north, for a couple of hours and it was great to see them again to catch up. It is neat to read what you are doing so that I can pray for you during your adventure in Haiti. Again, happy birthday.
